Welcome to Civil Air Patrol and Squadron 282!

As you have seen on these pages, Civil Air Patrol has a lot to offer adults as well as young men and women who are looking for exciting challenges and a meaningful way to contribute to their community.  Today’s Civil Air Patrol handles 90 percent of inland search and rescue missions, provides disaster relief and emergency services following natural and man-made disasters, teaches a new generation about aerospace and its impact on our future, and provides a cadet program which gives youth some of the finest leadership training the nation has to offer.  As the squadron commander, it is my goal to see that members grow personally, by learning new skills, learning to be a leader in their community, and expanding their horizons.  Feel free to attend one of our squadron meetings and talk to me and my staff to see if becoming a Civil Air Patrol member is right for you.  Our team of volunteer professionals have worked hard to make our unit the premier squadron of choice for civic minded individuals in the Dayton area.  I look forward to meeting you soon!

Cadet Commander

(unfilled)

On behalf of all previous cadet commanders of Squadron 282, I would like to thank you for taking the time to learn more about Civil Air Patrol and our squadron. As an auxiliary of the United States Air Force, we share similar standards and culture. We are lucky enough to represent the Air Force in a positive light, and exceed all other programs in pride and camaraderie. The Cadet Program, which is one of CAP’s missions, is a main focus of our squadron. We also actively participate in Emergency Services and Aerospace Education. You learn essential skills such as integrity, self discipline and motivation which will take you further in life. The most important thing we offer is that we have fun!

I invite you to visit and see what our program has to offer to you and which of your interests we appeal to. The great diversity of our program means that we have something for everyone.

I am looking forward to meeting you and having you as a part of our team.
