Thompson

Ronald Thompson joined CAP in October of 1992 and was recruited by Douglas Baker. Some of Ron's biggest achievements at Squadron 705 were:
- Growing the squadron from 3-6 cadets attending meetings to 16-20 as cadet commander.
- Helping to start the Group VII CAC with c/Col Heather Cross as Vice Chair and Chair and served on the wing CAC.
- Roles as Squadron Deputy Commander and Executive Officer of the Ohio Wing encampment in 1994 and 1995.
- With the National Cadet Competition team every year from 1993 until 1997, starting with the group and wing competitions, several years competing against Illinois wing at the region competition and finally onto command the team in the innovative drill routine at NCC in 1997.
- Attended Cadet Officer School as a c/LtC in the summer of 1995.
- Cadet commander from July 1994 through July 1995.

Ron then went on to be a cadet advisor and then a cadet commander at the Raleigh-Wake Composite Squadron and the Franklin County Composite Squadron working with Jay Langley, Maj, CAP in 1997 and 1998 while interning for IBM in North Carolina.  He took the role as the first cadet commander of the Franklin County Composite Squadron building a strong, very active new unit with over 20 members when he returned to Ohio to finish school and passed on cadet command to c/Maj Daven Byrd.

As of November, 2010, Captain Ron Thompson, CAP, is now the Deputy Commander of the Eugene L Carnahan Cadet Squadron in Placerville, California working with his sister and brother-in-law, all three Spaatzen, to help cadets in California have some of the same experiences that they were able to achieve as cadets.  Ron got his Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Cincinnati and runs his own business.

C/Capt Nathaniel B. Stevens, CAP

Nathaniel Stevens served as cadet commander of the Wright Brothers Aero Squadron from July 1995 to April 1996. As a cadet, Nathaniel:

- Was awarded the Group VII Phase III Cadet of the Year.
- Served on the Group VII Cadet Advisory Council.
- Served on the Ohio Wing Cadet Advisory Council.
- Served as a flight commander for the Ohio Wing Encampment.
- Participated in the EAA / Oshkosh National Special Activity (later called Blue Beret)
- Attended the Cadet Officer School National Special Activity.

Nathaniel graduated from Wright State University and currently works as a financial advisor. He still resides in the Miami Valley. Nathaniel credits Civil Air Patrol with teaching him the value of teamwork and providing him with unique experiences he would have never had otherwise.

C/Col David R. Smith, CAP

David R. Smith served as cadet commander of the Wright Brothers Aero Squadron from May 1996 to June 1997. As a cadet, David:

- Served on the cadet staff at three Ohio Wing encampments, on the Ohio Wing Cadet Advisory Council as vice-chairman, and on the Great Lakes Region Cadet Advisory Council;
- Attended the basic and medic courses at the Hawk Mountain Ranger School, Pararescue Orientation Course (PJOC), and Cadet Officer School;
- Was awarded the Group VII Phase IV Cadet of the Year (1997), CAP Academic Scholarship, and Meritorious Service Award.

In his final activity as a CAP cadet, David led the Ohio Wing and Great Lakes Region Cadet Competition Teams at the 1997 National Cadet Competition.

David graduated from Northwestern University in 2001 with a B.A. in physics and integrated sciences, and he received a Ph.D. in plasma physics from Princeton University in 2009. Today David is a scientist for the University of Wisconsin-Madison, but he works on assignment at the U.S. Department of Energy's Princeton Plasma Physics Lab where he conducts research in the areas of plasma turbulence and magnetic fusion energy. David and his wife live outside of Philadelphia, PA.

C/Col Laura E. Thompson, CAP

C/2d Lt Benjamin A. Stevens, CAP

Benjamin A. Stevens served as cadet commander of the Wright Brothers Aero Squadron from July 1998 to September 1999. As a cadet, Benjamin:

- Lead the OH-282 colorguard to a first place finish in the Group VII colorguard competition;

- Was named the Ohio Wing Cadet of the Year;

- Participated in the National Blue Beret, a National Special Activity supporting the EAA's "OshKosh" airshow.

C/2d Lt Stevens studied Aviation Technical Management at Bowling Green State University. He credits the Civil Air Patrol cadet program for teaching him the importance of respect.

C/Capt Christopher A. Vecchi, CAP

Vecchi 

Chris Vecchi first joined the Civil Air Patrol in 1996, serving as a cadet member of the Wright Brothers 282nd Aero Composite Squadron in New Lebanon, Ohio. As a cadet, Mr. Vecchi:

- Earned the Amelia Earhart Award.

- Participated in the National Ground Search and Rescue school 1998-1999.

- Participated as a primary delegate to the Ohio Wing CAC from 1998-1999.

- Named the 1999 Group VII, Ohio Wing Phase III Cadet of the Year.

- Served as the squadron's Cadet Commander from 1999 through 2000.

After his service as a cadet, Mr. Vecchi transferred his membership to become an officer. He held numerous staff positions including as Squadron Commander from 2007 to 2010.

C/TSgt Jason D. Rodriguez, CAP

Rodriguez

Jason Rodriguez first joined the Civil Air Patrol in 1996 serving as a cadet member of the Wright Brothers 282nd Aero Composite Squadron in New Lebanon, Ohio. As a cadet, Mr. Rodriguez:

- Served as a qualified Ground Team Member

- Attended the Hawk Mountain Ranger School.

- Completed BCUT / ACUT Training and holds ROA.

After his service as a cadet, Mr. Rodriguez transferred his membership to become an officer. He was later promoted to the grade of Captain and served in numerous squadron staff positions, including as the Deputy Commander.

Bright

Austen Bright first joined the Civil Air Patrol in 2002 as a cadet member of the Wright Brothers 282nd Aero Composite Squadron in New Lebanon, Ohio.

As a cadet, Mr. Bright:

- Earned the Billy Mitchell Award

- Served as a qualified Ground Team Member

- Attended the Hawk Mountain Ranger School.

- Attended the 2003 Ohio Wing Encampment

- Attended the 2003 Ohio Wing NCO Academy

- Participated in the National Aviation Career Academy

- Earned Air Force Sergeant's Association Award

- Earned Air Force Association Award.

C/2d Lt Samantha N. Currier, CAP

Currier

Samantha Currier first joined the Civil Air Patrol in 2006 as a cadet member of the Wright Brothers 282nd Aero Composite Squadron in New Lebanon, Ohio.

As a cadet, Ms. Currier:

- Earned the Billy Mitchell Award.

- Served as a qualified Ground Team Member

- Served as a member of the Northmont Navy Junior ROTC.

Ms. Currier is currently continuing her education at Emery Riddle Aeronautical University in Florida.

C/2d Lt Nathan D. Blevins, CAP

Blevins

Nathan Blevins first joined the Civil Air Patrol in 2006 as a cadet member of the Wright Brothers 282nd Aero Composite Squadron in New Lebanon, Ohio.

As a cadet, Mr. Blevins:

- Served as a qualified Ground Team Member

- Attended the Hawk Mountain Ranger School.

- Completed BCUT / ACUT Training and holds ROA.

C/Capt Dakota Raduenz, CAP

C/Captain Raduenz

Dakota Raduenz first joined Civil Air Patrol in June 2009 in Dothan, Alabama. He then moved to Georgia, and later to Ohio, maintaining his membership throughout.

As a cadet, Mr. Raduenz:

-Earned the Amelia Earhart Award

-Participated in Georgia Wing Encampment 2010 (Honor Cadet)

-Served as a primary delegate to the Georgia Wing Cadet Advisory Council

-Served as a cadet in Navy and Air Force JROTC programs

-Served as Cadet Commander to Currahee Composite Squadron in Toccoa, Georgia

-Participated in Dayton Airshow 2011 (Top Strike Team Leader)

-Served as a Qualified Ground Team Member

-Participated in 2012 Ohio Wing Encampment Staff as Cadet Medical Officer

Mr. Raduenz is currently continuing his service as the Cadet Commander.
